Athena's Greek Values

Picture
Athena had many greek values but two of them were truly her! I think one of her values was individualism because she was quite good at standing alone and mainly just thinking for herself like, how she tried to prevent the Trojan War. She tried to do it herself and she was on her way to making peace when a soldier a very selfish one let one of his arrows go which started the war. So Athena decided that since it wasn't the other half of the war who threw the arrow she joined that part in the Trojan War. The other Value that Athena I believe has is a lot of Justice. The reason i think that is justice means peace and good natured and respect. Athena had all that. In the Trojan War she was only trying to make peace and have all be fair. She is very respectful and never tries to hurt anyone unless they have threatened or attacked her country. She also helped many people such as, when Perseus had to kill Medusa he had to use the shield so he didn't turn to stone. That gift was given by Athena. Those are the values I believe Athena has and we can use them through and through our lives.

Athena is the kind of goddess that plays a lot of parts in many different stories like the Trojan War and how she tried to make peace. Another story that she played a part in was the one with Arachne and her weaving contest. When Arachne thought that she was better than Athena they had a contest. The contest was to see who could make a better weaving. Arachne made her weaving about the Trespasses of the Gods Athena got very angered by that and ripped her weaving to shreds. Then she turned Arachne into a spider making her hang by a thread and make Athena a web. Another story that she had a part in was what happened to her friend Pallas. They believed that Athena and Pallas were practicing their skills together and accidentally Athena hit her friend which was told to turn fatal which was very upsetting and sad.In honor of her friend she put Pallas and added it onto her own name so she sometimes was called Pallas Athena.

Her birth

Athena's birth was a very interesting story! One day Zeus had figured out that Metis, Zeus's wife was going to have a baby and if that baby was a boy ,the boy would be more powerful then him! So trying to prevent that Zeus swallowed his wife Metis. Then a while later his head started to hurt like crazy! Even though this was a very risky task he had one of the other gods they think it was Hephaestus, split his head open and out sprang Athena full grown and had battle gear on. There are many other versions of that story and other people think she was not born that way and there are many other ways she could have been born.

Her Powers and Talents

Athena had many powers and talents. One of her powers was Wisdom. She uses her wisdom to out smart people and make very wise decisions. Another power/talent that she has is crafts. She a very good weaver and very talented. She amazes people with her art! The last talent she has is how skilled she us with war and bow and arrow but she only uses her war skills when she absolutely needs to but she tries to remain peaceful and tries to create peace not war.

Symbols and Tools

A couple of her main symbols are the owl and the olive tree. The owl was her companion and one of her biggest symbols. The olive tree represented how Athena won the challenge for the city by giving a olive tree and Poseidon made a spring but his spring was made of salt water so Athena won because hers was more useful, because they can not drink salt water. She didn't have many tools only her hands when she made weavings and art and other weapons like a bow and arrow.
